Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data getsub collects, why, and what you can do about it. We try to collect the minimum needed to run the service.

1. Who we are

getsub is operated by Axel Mandonnet, a sole operator based in France. Contact: axelmdt.pro@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

  • Account data: email address (for magic-link authentication).
  • Usage data: the URLs you submit, the resulting transcripts, timestamps, and platform (TikTok / Instagram / YouTube).
  • Billing data (Pro only): handled by Polar.sh — we receive a Polar customer ID and subscription status. We do NOT store card numbers.
  • Technical data: a session cookie (httpOnly) for authentication, and a quota cookie to count anonymous free uses.

We do not use analytics scripts, tracking pixels, or third-party ads.

3. Why we collect it

  • To deliver the transcription service you requested.
  • To show you a history of your past transcripts.
  • To enforce free / Pro usage limits.
  • To bill Pro subscribers and prevent abuse.
  • To send service emails (sign-in links, account notices). We do not send marketing.

4. Third-party processors

To run the Service, your data may be processed by:

  • Vercel (USA) — application hosting
  • Turso (EU) — database (your email, transcripts)
  • Groq (USA) — speech-to-text inference on submitted audio (audio is processed in-flight, not retained by Groq per their policy)
  • Resend (USA / EU) — transactional emails
  • Polar.sh (USA, Merchant of Record) — payment processing
  • Cloudflare (USA / EU) — DNS, tunneling

Each processor is bound by its own privacy and security commitments. We share only what is strictly needed.

5. Retention

  • Transcripts and account data: kept while your account is active.
  • After account deletion: removed within 30 days (excluding billing records, which are retained for legal/accounting reasons up to 10 years).
  • Anonymous quota cookies: 48 hours.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA/UK, you can:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your transcripts
  • Object to processing or withdraw consent
  • Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (CNIL in France)

7. Cookies

We use only two cookies, both functional (no tracking):

  • Session cookie — keeps you signed in. Expires after 30 days.
  • Quota cookie (`yy_q`) — counts daily free transcripts for anonymous users. Expires after 48 hours.

8. Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS. The database is protected by access tokens and hosted on Turso. Passwords are not stored (we use magic-link authentication instead).

9. Children

getsub is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

10. Changes

We'll update this page if our practices change and notify Pro subscribers of material changes by email.
